Over 150 locals rugged up to enjoy the first Moonlight Movie Night at Highland last Saturday.  Event co-ordinator Julie Colwell said it was a fantastic evening.  “There were free balloons and glow sticks for the kids; popcorn, snacks and even bean bags for hire,” Julie said.

The blockbuster movie ‘The Croods’ was featured on a huge seven metre cinema screen which lit up the night sky just on sunset.  “The weather was a little cooler than expected with the cold snap arriving on Saturday,” Julie said. “But everyone was prepared and rugged up for the cooler weather.”

The Biloela Junior Rugby League Football Club ran a charity sausage sizzle and rose over $250 dollars for the club.  Biloela JRL volunteer, Jo Gangemi was wrapped with the turnout. “There were lots of sticky tomato sauce fingers running around the place,” Jo said. “It was great to see the kids having such a good time and so many local businesses helping out to make this community event happen.”

Local, Les Pedersen had the most luck on the night winning a wheelbarrow full of prizes including two cartons of beer, Moet champagne and picnic gear.

The next Moonlight Movie Night is planned for Saturday, June 7th with a screening of the popular ‘Monster’s University’.  “We’d love everyone to come along to our last movie event before the winter weather kicks in and encourage all the kids to dress up as their favourite monster for the night,” Julie said. “The early evening temperatures are back up to 17 degrees after that cold snap so we expect it will be a perfect night.”
