  • Work on Uni hospital to start soon

    CONSTRUCTION on the Sunshine Coast University Hospital will start three months ahead of schedule in October.

    Premier Campbell Newman visited Nambour General Hospital today to formally announce the Public Private Partnership with Exemplar Health. He said the consortium included Lend Lease, Spotless Group, Capella Capital and Siemens, and would build then maintain the hospital for 25 years."This institution will be the centrepiece of a Kawana Health Campus with a co-located private hospital, parking for 3,500 cars and a Skills, Academic and Research Centre. "


    Premier Newman confirmed the LNP Government would shave $250 million off the $2.03 billion project. He said the savings had come from a competitive tender process. Premier Newman promised no services would be cut with regards to the savings.

    Sunshine Coast University Hospital will open in 2016 with 450 beds and 2,500 new staff, expanding to 738 beds and 5,000 staff by 2021.
